The Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union, offers you a challenging and inspiring career as a Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officer in the pay scale for Assistant Commandant at Rs.15600-39100 with Grade Pay Rs 5400/- . Applications are invited from Indian citizens for following posts :
- Assistant Commandant (General Duty - General Service)
- Assistant Commandant General Duty (Pilot/ Navigator)
- Assistant Commandant Technical Branch (Mechanical/ Electrical)
The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years of OBC candidates.
Medical Standard:
(a) Height in Cms : (May be reduced by 5 cms in the case of Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese(including those from Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura) Garhwal, Sikkim, Local tribes of A & N islands and 2 cms in case of candidates from Lakshadweep, mainland settlers in Andaman and Nicobar )
(i) Asst Commandant (for both GD ( General Service and Technical) : 157 cms minimum.
(ii) Asst Commandant (Pilot- Navigator) : Minimum 162.5 cms and maximum 197 cms, leg length 99 cms.
(b) Weight - Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable.
(c) Chest - Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms
(d) Eye Sight
(i) Asst Commandant (GD) - 6/6(Good Eye) 6/9 (Bad Eye) without glasses
(ii) Asst Commandant (PN)
- 6/6(Both Eyes)
without glasses
(iii) Asst Commandant (Tech) - 6/12 (Good Eye)
and 6/36 (Bad Eye).
Selection Procedure:
(a) This being 'Fast Track Selection", the short-listed candidates will be called for combined Preliminary selection Board(PSB) and Final Selection Board( FSB) which will be conducted at Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) Noida (U.P. ) during early-mid Jun 10.
(b) Selection will be made on the basis of performance of the candidate in FSB. The candidates can further be tested in order to judge their professional competence (as required) prior to the medical examination. Those found medically fit will be placed in the merit list. The candidates who qualify in the merit list vis-à-vis number of vacancies available will be issued with appointment letter.
(c) Medical examination will be held at Delhi.
General Guidelines.
(a) Candidates are to specify clearly in column (2) of the application form the choice of center nearest to the present address at which they wish to appear for PSB. While every effort will be made to allot the center of their choice, however, Indian Coast Guard may allot a different center to the candidates depending on the number of candidates for particular centre.
(b) Request for change of examination centre/date will not be entertained.
(c) Attested copy of Caste Certificate (if applicable) has to be enclosed.
(d) Character certificate (issued six months prior to exam/interview) shall be enclosed with the application.
(e) Candidates should be prepared to stay for 2-3 days for PSB and 4-5 days for FSB scheduled at CGSB , Noida for which they have to make their own arrangement. No TA/DA will be admissible.
(f) Proof of residence (domicile certificate) is to be attached with the application in support of column (5) of the application form.
(g) Only one application will be accepted from each candidate.
