| Junior Commissioned Officer in Army or other paramilitary forces with five years experience in organizing and supervising security arrangements. Preferably, trained in fire fighting equipments. Knowledge of local language, English & Hindi desirable. |

Allotting duties to security staff;
To train security staff in fire fighting operation;
To evolve suitable security procedure; To maintain liaison with the local police authorities for assistance when needed; and
To carry out any other work related to security as may be assigned from time to time. |
IN THE CASE OF POSTS RESERVED FOR SCHEDULED CASTE, SCHEDULED TRIBE AND OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES CANDIDATES, A LOWER STANDARD OF SUITABILITY CONSISTENT WITH EFFICIENCY IN ADMINISTRATION WILL BE APPLIED.
Relaxation for Group IV Scientific Posts
Relaxation in age limit upto 5 years may be allowed to Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time in this regard. Relaxation in case of Ex-servicemen will also be applicable as per provisions.
Relaxation for Group III Technical Posts
The age limit prescribed in the rules is not relaxable for Departmental candidates. However, relaxation in age limit etc. is available to widows, divorced women and women separated from their husbands and Ex-servicemen/Sports person and all other categories of candidates, who are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India Rules.
Relaxation in age limit, the qualification and/or experience can be considered in the cases of exceptionally meritorious candidates (both departmental and outsiders)
GENERAL CONDITIONS:-
The above posts are temporary but likely to continue. Besides pay, these posts carry usual allowances as admissible under the Central Government rules. Higher initial pay can be considered for exceptionally meritorious candidates. The total emoluments at the minimum of the scale for the posts at present are as follows: (including House Rent Allowance as applicable for the city of Chennai.)

The service under CSIR/SERC is governed by the New Defined Contribution Pension Scheme of Government of India as made applicable with effect from 1st January 2004. Further, benefits such as Leave Travel Concession, Reimbursement of Medical Expenses, Conveyance Advance and Housing loans are also available in accordance with Govt. of India/CSIR rules in force.
Application forms can be downloaded from SERC website “www.sercm.org” (click on “HRD/Recruitment” from the Home Page) or can be obtained (free of cost) from the CONTROLLER OF ADMINISTRATION, STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING RESEARCH CENTRE, CSIR CAMPUS, POST BAG NO.8287, TTTI TARAMANI P.O., CHENNAI 600 113. Advertisement Number, Name of the Post applied for and full address in Block Letters must be indicated at the top of the request which should be sent together with self-addressed and duly stamped envelope [Rs.10.00] of size 22cm X 10cm. The last date for receipt of completed applications is 22-02-2010 (MONDAY) and it will be the cut off date for determining the age, qualifications and experience of a candidate. Applications should be supported by (a) attested copies of the certificates/testimonials relating to educational qualifications (including mark statements), (b) date of birth, (c) experience and (d) community certificate in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates issued by the appropriate authority. Candidates should submit with each filled up application a Crossed Demand Draft for Rs.100/- drawn in favour of I.R.F, SERC payable at Chennai towards application fee. No fee for SC/ST candidates and regular employees of CSIR. Persons with disabilities are also exempted from payment of application fee subject to submission of prescribed medical certificate.
Applications from employees working in Government Departments, Public Sector Organizations and Government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of receipt of the appointment orders.
Applying for the position advertised herein does not by itself automatically entitle an applicant to be called for test / interview. Unsigned or invalid applications not completely/duly filled in and or without proper and appropriate enclosures will be rejected during the screening/shortlisting of applications received. This will be strictly complied with / adhered to. Since it is not possible to call all the candidates for test / interview, applications will be shortlisted for the purpose and the decision of Director, SERC shall be final in this regard. For posts of Scientist Gr.IV[1], Scientist Gr.IV[2] and Technical Assistant Gr.III[1] and Technical Officer Gr.III[4], written tests will be conducted to further short-list the candidates to be called for interview.
